“I am hot”: Stephen Curry gets frustrated at head coach Steve Kerr for benching him ‘unnecessarily’ in a blowout loss against Clippers
Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr
Stephen Curry isn’t the player who warms the bench when the game is closely contested and head to head. He and his game both are very unique as he being the greatest shooter of all time is a generational talent and inspiration for many. Recently, the Los Angeles Clippers hosted the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena and after an unpredictable chain of points won it all against the Dubs. As the final box score stands at 119-104 favoring the Los Angeles Clippers.
The game was a blowout loss for the Warriors as having a heavily talented roster compared to the Clippers who miss their stars and starting lineup. The Dubs still lost by 15 points. Currently, the Golden State Warriors are ranked as the second seed in the western conference with the record of 42 wins and 16 losses at .724. On the other hand, the short-handed Clippers who got the W over the Dubs are ranked as the 8th seed in the western conference with the record of 29 wins and 30 losses at .492.
The game was unpredictable for straight two quarters but after the half-time and near the end of the second quarter the Clippers stepped up with a hot rally. Where they dominated the defensive end of the Warriors who miss Draymond Green. Stephen Curry in the game dropped 33 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds playing for 34 minutes but ended up losing the game as he was seen having an exchange with his coach during the second quarter for getting benched.

Stephen Curry getting benched by Steve Kerr.
Steph in the second quarter with 7 minutes and 30 seconds remaining made a three from downtown but just after one possession was benched by the head coach Steve Kerr at 7 minutes 3 seconds remaining even though he was back after a good breather the rhythm was broken. Stephen on the bench was also seen yelling that ‘he is hot’ and the fans too believe he really was as they criticize Steve Kerr for getting him out and blame him for the loss.
Steve Kerr may have had his reasons for that move as he knows Curry and his game better than anyone. With the age and injury being a factor these days in the league maybe Kerr wanted Steph to get some rest and go all in at the end during the fourth quarter. Steph has always been the game-changer for the Dubs but it was one of those games where things just got wrong. One of the reasons to bench him can also be the approaching playoffs where the coaches don’t want their star player to be under any stress and rest well so they can step up when necessary.
