“I don’t believe Bron will leave”: Shannon Sharpe on Charles Oakley’s claim of LeBron James leaving the Lakers for another ring chase
Shannon Sharpe, LeBron James and Charles Oakley
LeBron James is playing MVP level of basketball this season with the Los Angeles Lakers but the team is still down and short. As there is not much on the supporting cast of Lakers and most of the time the other stars are seen falling short and not delivering. This offseason exchanging the young core of the team “LeGM” (LeBron James) hand-picked the veteran roster which in reality is very different than the expectations it drew on paper.
Currently, the Los Angeles Lakers are ranked as the 9th seed in the western conference of the league with the record of 25 wins and 28 losses at .472. As with James being sidelined due to a knee injury, the team in his absence has maintained a losing record. Since the blowout loss of 37 points against the Denver Nuggets the trade radar was on and hot as the front office started working to get some improvements made. There were also rumors out for many stars getting shipped across the league. But with only a week left for the trade deadline no change in the roster has been seen.
Charles Oakley recently appeared on SiriusXM NBA radio where he claimed of LeBron James leaving the Los Angeles Lakers to win another title before retiring as he quoted: “He definitely wants to win a championship before he retires, and he might have to leave L.A to get it… He left twice… he’ll leave again.” The assumption from Oakley’s end can be very true as the team struggles and most of the time LeBron is left alone performing with the veteran roster just running coast to coast.
Shannon Sharpe has been on Los Angeles Lakers board for years and is also a LeBron James’ fan and as a result, he disagrees with Charles Oakley’s belief. On the latest segment of “Undisputed” discussing the claim Shannon Sharpe had a lot to say about it as he wants the King to stay in Los Angeles and retire.

Shannon Sharpe on Charles Oakley’s belief of LeBron James leaving L.A
Shannon Sharpe sitting alongside Skip Bayless the biggest LeBron James hater discussed the claim of Charles Oakley. Not being on the board with Oakley disagreeing with the claim Shannon Sharpe quoted: “He knows LeBron he is close to LeBron. But I don’t believe LeBron will leave Skip. Umm… I believe the Lakers will try to get off Russ this offseason. Now how effective they are in doing that I think he’ll go. Now if you can get off Russ, get another I am not saying superstar but get another top-level player to team up with LeBron and AD. I think that greatly increases his chance. Yeah he wants the Kareem record, but also wants to compete in the title in the process of going for the record, and if that’s not in L.A he does have one more on his contract Skip.”
Shannon Sharpe further adding to it brought the probability of Bron leaving the Lakers as he did during his time at Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat. Keeping the doors open for LeBron to leave if he wants to Sharpe quoted: “If that’s not in L.A he might have to take his show on the road… So that’s what we do. So if that’s not what we want to do but are forced to do that I don’t think we have a problem doing that…We moved before several times.”
Shannon and Oakley both are correct with their assumptions. As nothing can be said or confirmed on LeBron James’ further journey in the league before retirement. Since the King has a dream of sharing the court with his son while adding titles to his resume.
