Despite the Nets having plans on keeping Harden for the rest of the season, his behavior has become uncontrollable and feels like a threat to the front office of the franchise. Brian Windhorst told ESPN that the shooting guard behavior has expressed his unwillingness to continue with the team.

This has forced the Nets to go from refusing to make a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers to resorting to the offer behind closed doors. Now, if the trade does not happen successfully Harden plans on testing the waters with free agency. This gives a chance for the Nets franchise to prove to him a reason to stay or risk losing to the player to a better deal and a winning situation.
