Over the years, the NBA has experienced a change in the style of play, the face of the league has changed, the rules and pace of the game have incredibly improved. However, one thing which is common even in modern-day NBA, is the knack of different franchises to build a team around a marquee superstar. Be it Nikola Jokic in Denver, Stephen Curry in Golden State, Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee or perhaps JA Morant in Grizzlies.

With the Memphis Grizzlies stamping their authority throughout the 2021-22 NBA Season, they have secured the 2nd seed in the Western Conference and are raging their way into the playoffs. Not to forget the Grizzlies have achieved the same result, being on a current 18-2 streak in their last 20 games without JA Morant. Which has led Skip Bayless fall in love with one of the youngest teams in the 2021-22 season.

While discussing the current hot-form of the Memphis Grizzlies on Undisputed with co-host Shannon Sharpe, Bayless added, “In all my years of watching professional basketball, I have never, ever seen anything like the Grizzlies being 18-2 when you lose your star. It is a star-driven sport. But these stats don’t lie.”

The Grizzlies ramped past the mighty Golden State Warriors in their most recent games, with a margin of 25 points and dominated every single quarter in the process of humiliating Steve Kerr and his team.

With the likes of Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr, Dillon Brooks all showcasing their scoring prowess game after game, the Grizzlies are not the 2nd best team in the Western Conference and are looking like a powerhouse to fight against in the postseason. Most probably the Grizzlies could face the likes of Timberwolves or Clippers in the postseason. But when they do, it surely seems like a mere formality that a star-studded Grizzlies would not cruise past their opponent in a seven-game series.

Will JA Morant’s army be able to continue their same winning streak even after the end of regular season? Remains to be seen.
