Giannis Antetokounmpo and Allen Iverson are two totally different players who have their unique game built around two different aspects but still have a lot of things in common. As the “Greek Freak” recently revealed that he was inspired by “The Answer” at the NBA 75 Ceremony where the league was honoring seventy-five all-time great players of the league. Giannis and Allen Iverson both were part of the list as both are legends and have proved it many times.
Allen Iverson is one of the most influential players around the league as he came up with the iconic crossover move and also gave Michael Jordan a taste of it. His moves and handles are still used by many players in the league. From time to time those just got better and now are an important part of the game. As everyone wants to have Iverson like handles in their bag. A.I wasn’t a big guy but was so skilled to torture everyone on the court with his godlike handling and scoring ability.
Giannis on the other hand is a very unique talent as single-handedly last season he won a championship while taking home the Finals MVP. He also has one of the best resumes in the league as he has achieved a lot in just a little span of time and today stands as a superstar in the league. Recently, in an interview backstage at the NBA 75 ceremony and All-Star game he revealed the real reason behind him being in the league and credited Allen Iverson as he inspired him.

Chris Haynes when questioned Giannis regarding the deep conversation he had with Allen Iverson, replying to it the Freak quoted: “I started playing basketball because of him. You know I had the cornrows and the headbands. I used to be short back then and skinny and I just wanted to be like Allen Iverson and I watched the documentaries of him and he said he wanted to be like MJ like k wanted to Allen Iverson really not bad. You know I never had the chance to bother him and disturb because that’s not who I am. But now when I had the opportunity to see him I had to tell him that.”
Giannis is one of the most humble guys around the league and he had nothing but pure respect for his inspiration Iverson when he met him. As he mentioned how back then watching him play he had his headbands and stuff around. It’s safe to say that the influence stayed till the mentality of Giannis and not the game as his gameplay is completely different if compared to A.I. He is one of the most dominant post forces ever seen who can dunk on and torture anyone near the rim. Whereas Allen had a deep bag of handles and skills to shoot around and pull up from anywhere.
Currently, Giannis is back in the race as the defending champion and has a great chance of running it back again. While he tops the list of MVP and DPOY favorites to get the awards back to him once again. The Milwaukee Bucks under his leadership are ranked as the fifth seed in the eastern conference of the league with the record of 36 wins and 24 losses at .600.
