Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are preparing to enter the post-season to defend their title. In a conference that is seemingly defensively heavier, the Bucks have got their plans all set straight. The former back-to-back MVP however has not been talked about as much even though he is still putting up numbers he did last season and the before that.

The Greek Freak has been putting up his best offensive numbers averaging 29.9 points per game along with 11.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists. He is shooting 55.2% from the field on 18.6 attempts per game, 30.1% from the three-point range, and 72.2% from the free-throw line. He is currently tied for second place for most points per game and ranks fifth in the league for rebounds per game.

Despite having a few setbacks initially as the season commenced with injuries along with Khris Middleton and a few others entering into health and safety protocols, the Bucks managed to bounce back on their arrival. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been averaging 31.8 points per game in the month of March leading the Bucks to 11 wins in their last 14 games. Giannis has still not been spoken on as much despite his exceptional efforts trying to run it back this season.

Former basketball player of the Los Angeles Sparks Chiney Ogwumike gave her take on the matter saying, “I think that the Bucks are exactly where they want to be. Flying under the radar as a defending champion team and my goodness let’s talk about his performance against one person, Joel Embiid the runner for MVP. Smart of you Giannis to get busy when he was on the bench. One thing I love about his game is he does not take any game for granted.”

Kendrick Perkins believes the league is bored of Giannis Antetokounmpo

Right off the bat, Kendrick Perkins chimed in saying, “I think we’re starting to get bored with Giannis like we did with LeBron James and we’re taking them for granted. When you look at his stats and you look at what he does throughout the course of the season, we talk about a guy who could go out there and get you forty, seventeen, and six assists. And here we are, we’re still talking about the others.”

“This is a guy that we actually could put in the MVP conversation every single year, who actually could win the MVP every single year. What else does Giannis have to prove? He’s playing like he’s trying to win his first championship. He’s playing like he’s trying to win his first MVP.”  Michael Wilbon shared his take saying that Giannis is being overshadowed because of the lack of “glamour” around his name. However it might be, the Bucks currently have 47 wins and 28 losses with seven games left to play in the regular season. Giannis sits third in MVP rankings with the odds at +1000 behind Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid.

That being said, will we witness the Heat vs Bucks showdown once again in the playoffs? Hopefully with both teams in fine form, fans could watch the epic battle once again.
