NBA insider reveals 6 year veteran, Shabazz Napier set to return to the United States amid Russia-Ukraine conflict

The Wizards veteran guard Shabazz Napier has decided to make his return to the USA after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine moved to its peak. Previously it was reported that he was in rehab, recovering from his ankle injury and he was sent to join a EuroLeague team. Moreover, due to increasing tension in Europe, he is all set to come back to the United States.
Napier started playing for Zenit Saint Petersburg of the VTB United League and the EuroLeague after he didn’t receive any deal from the NBA franchise last year. Until a year ago he was part of the Wizards bench but the franchise also sent him to free agency.

The situation in Europe started getting tense during the start of February month when Russia started deploying its troop along the borders of Ukraine since then the situation got worse day by day. On 24 Feb, Russia invaded Ukraine and the war escalated as none of the parties came to a common agreement.
Many Ukrainian Citizens mostly women and children have already left the nation due to the ongoing crisis and are looking for protection in the neighboring countries in Europe. The Biden administration also issued a warning to its citizens to leave the country as the conflict ignited between them.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Shabazz Napier is returning to his home in America due to the conflict despite he is yet to recover from his ankle injury. He tweeted, Veteran NBA guard Shabazz Napier is leaving BC Zenit in Saint Petersburg amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, sources tell ESPN. Napier had recently recovered from an ankle injury and neared a return to the EuroLeague team, but the attack has prompted his departure back to the U.S.

Shabazz Napier can be a good role player for the teams as he is also a two-time college champion with the University of Connecticut. In NBA last season he averaged 11 points for Wizards with a 35% of three-point made percentage. With his return to the country, Napier will hope to make a comeback in a league after his improve performance.
