The Los Angeles Clippers made some changes to their roster, acquiring Russell Westbrook, Eric Gordon, Bones Hyland and Mason Plumlee at the deadline. Since the All-star break concluded, the Clippers have featured in 2 high-octane thrillers but ended up on the losing side.
The Clippers kicked off their final stretch against the Sacramento Kings on 25 February at the Crypto.com Arena. That game has been etched in the history books for being the second-highest-scoring game of all time. The teams combined for a whopping 351 points with the Kings taking home the victory by the barest of margins. Kawhi Leonard officially stamped his return after scoring 44 points. Leonard was ruled off the 2021-22 season because of an ACL injury and also missed 19 of the Clippers’ first 24 games of this season.
The Clippers then played the Denver Nuggets on February 26. In a game dominated by the Nuggets for 3 quarters, Leonard and Paul George steered the Clippers comeback in the 4th quarter and gave them their first lead of the game with 43 seconds to go. But a clutch three-pointer by Michael Porter Jr propelled the game to overtime after Paul George’s miraculous 3/4th court buzzer shot was fractions of a second late. The Clippers were outplayed in the Overtime as the Nuggets beat them by 10 points. Leonard had 33 points in the losing effort.

Leonard’s status has not been confirmed by the Clippers but the good news is that his name did not feature in any of the injury reports. He is expected to continue his scoring run and help the Clippers secure a Win. Defensive big man Ivica Zubac remains questionable.
Kawhi Leonard has been one of the best 2-way players in the league since his debut. But his tendency to sit out frequently under the pretext of load management has not gone well with the fans. He suffered a major ACL injury in June 2021 and missed an entire season, but has returned at full strength. Over his last 19 games, Leonard is averaging 28.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game on efficient .534/.495/.915 shooting splits.

As Gobert remains probable for the game, the Timberwolves are expected to go with their previous game’s lineup of PG- Mike Conley, SG- Anthony Edwards, SF- Jaden McDaniels, PF- Kyle Anderson and C- Naz Reid.
The Clippers on the other hand are expected to go with PG- Russell Westbrook, SG- Paul George, SF- Kawhi Leonard, PF- Marcus Morris and C- Mason Plumlee.
