The first quarter wasn’t even over and Ja Morant already gave the whole Los Angeles crowd the biggest highlight of Lakers vs Grizzlies.
The Memphis Grizzlies ended their two-game road trip to West Coast on Sunday after they took on the LA Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena. The Grizzlies have surprised the entire league with their stellar performance on court this season. They are currently 27-14 in the league and 4th in the Western Conference just following up some of the biggest teams this season.
The West Coast has always been the war zone for the teams because it consists of some of the best rosters of the league from Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Nuggets, Grizzlies, etc., and this season it has gotten just more intense.
On one side teams like LA Lakers which were expected to excel are still struggling and when teams like the Grizzlies who were expected to do just fine are the ones putting the audiences on their feet. And, players like Ja Morant pull up the biggest defensive flex on the court even legends like LeBron James have to applaud them for it.

LeBron James- “They got rockets in Ja Morant’s calf muscles”
Just two years into the league and Ja Morant has always charmed the entire NBA crowd. Drafted in 2019 by the Grizzlies, Ja Morant has gone on to become of the irreplaceable pieces on the Grizzlies roster.
The 22-year-old is averaging 24.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game this season. He is surely one of the younger players with a magnificent future in this league. He has contributed immensely to the Memphis Grizzlies’ current 8 games win streak especially in last night’s defense against the gigantic Lakers.
The buzzer was yet to be buzzed indicating the ending of the first quarter in the Lakers and Grizzlies and Ja Morant already pulled one of the most flawless defense moves in the NBA. With 7 minutes still remaining Ja Morant loses the ball to Lakers’ Avery Bradley in a loose offensive play resulting in a turnover but he just doesn’t stand there
Morant chased down Bradley back to the court and when he released the ball Morant jumps high in the air and grabbed the ball in a two-hand block. Morant soared so high in the air that for a fraction of a second he was above the basketball rim, and this just stunned the entire crypto arena. The whole commentator’s panel went “Oh! Sh**!”
Lakers star player LeBron James was in awe of this 22-year old’s terrifying block. The 4 tie VPM praised Ja Morant in the post-match conference and said, “Obviously, it starts with timing and also just stalking your prey.”
LeBron further added, “Didn’t know he was going to do it in that fashion, but he got rockets in his calf muscles, and it was a spectacular play. It was a great play. Salute!”
It is big for Ja Morant to be praised by LeBron James because it was coming from someone who shook the entire world after his chase-down block in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Lakers coach Frank Vogel also praise the young chap and said, “That was a special play from a special player. I don’t know what else there really is to say about it.”
And, Ja Morant knew how amazed he has left the social networking sites when he said, “Now I’m probably all over the internet for it.”
Well, Morant, you are.
