NBA Slam Dunk contestants face high criticism from Shannon Sharpe after their lame dunking performances.
The Saturday night was prepared for the 2022 NBA Slam Dunk contest during the all-star weekend, with the hope to witness some extraordinary dunks, which players are not able to pull in the league games. Although Obi Toppin was chosen as the winner of the contest, each contestant, even the winner was not sparred by the spectators for such a weak performance.
One of the criticizers was NFL Hall-of-Famer Shannon Sharpe who took things to Twitter by claiming that the Slam Dunk contest is getting worst each year, and even the number of misses is increased by the players during the competition.
While most of the contestants missed more than half of their dunk attempts, Sharpe said, “Did dunk contestants always miss this many dunks in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s? Damn, it’s getting harder and harder to watch guys miss so many dunks b4 they get one to go dwn. Maybe it’s me.”
Sharpe’s statements totally make sense as the contestant made only seven dunks out of their twenty-five attempts in the first rounds, but the dunker who missed the most was Jalen Green who went one of his nine slam dunk attempts.
