Erik Spoelstra is considered one of the greatest coaches in NBA history. Former Heats head coach has been a part of the franchise for almost two decades during this time he was given the main credit for the uprising and championship wins for the team. Even his journey to becoming the head coach of Miami is very much inspiring and interesting.
Coach Spo’s journey began with the Heats as video coordinator for the franchise, and after that, we saw an uprising in his career. For his initial days, he first became the assistant coach under Pat Riley who led the Heats to their first NBA title. During this whole time, Spoelstra worked hard on his coaching skills and build a strong fellowship with Dwyane Wade.

Erik Spoelstra contribution for the Miami Heats in winning NBA Championship
When Erik Spoelstra got the command of the Miami Heats as the head coach, he made sure that the team doesn’t lack domination in the league. With LeBron James, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh as the main players of the Heats, Coach Spo became the architect to lead them towards two NBA championships.
Even when these star players left the team, coach Spo continued to build the roaster for the Heats and the result was clear when the franchise entered the 2020 NBA final under his coaching without any big superstar player.
Erik Spoelstra’s contribution to the game of basketball is significant and he deserves to be recognized for that. Recently, NBA revealed the list of top-15 coaches of all time after they facilitated the top-75 players in NBA history.
Besides Spoelstra, former Heats head coach Pat Riley also made it to the list with Red Auerbach, Larry Brown, Chuck Daly, Red Holzman, Phil Jackson, KC Jones, Steve Kerr, Don Nelson, Gregg Popovich, Jack Ramsay, Doc Rivers, Jerry Sloan and Lenny Wilkens.

Dwyane Wade sent heartfelt message to coach Erik Spoelstra after his selection in top-15 coaches of all-time
When Dwyane heard about the selection of Coach Spo into the top-15 coaches of all time, he was unable to control his feeling and shared his relationship with Erik Spoelstra at NBA on TNT and how he was the key to Miami’s success in these last two decades.
“Spo and I had a great relationship cause he was the guy who would work me out after practice to help me really learn how to shoot and play in an NBA game. I always say Pat Riley set the standard, but Coach Spo improved on it. And you really see his DNA inside the organization and now it’s not just Pat Riley show, it’s Erik Spoelstra.”
Moreover, it seems that Coach Spo’s work is still not over and he is still giving his best in this season where the Heats are currently leading the eastern conference with the record of 35-20.
