“Its the greatest failure in NBA history” Nick Wright slams injured Anthony Davis for Lakers’ worst ever setback

The stories have not shifted to Anthony Davis for the setbacks of NBA giants Los Angeles Lakers. After losing their seventh straight game two nights ago, they have officially fallen out of playoff contention. The entire team was hoping to get past the play-ins to get to the post-season and show their “true power” but now has to wait until the following season to set things straight.

The Lakers are now 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 31 wins and 48 losses. This is the second-worst record and the second time the team has not made the playoffs since LeBron James’ arrival in LA. The doubt still continues about the decisions LA’s management is planning on making for the next season.

Anthony Davis becomes the target of the Lakers’ tragic regular season

Anthony Davis has been out for almost half of the regular for the Lakers which took a massive toll on their overall system. Being in and out of the starting lineup keeps ruining a team’s chemistry having to deal with different groups in each game. Of course, Davis is not the only player who got injured this season but he is whom the Lakers relied on to win.

AD is usually a very high-scoring big man averaging as high as 28.1 points per game when he was in New Orleans. Over the last two seasons, he has played in only 76 games combined averaging 22.5 points per game which is a huge dip from the 26.1 points he averaged when the Lakers won the championship. He has also shot his worst from the three-point line averaging 18.6% unlike his usual 30.3% per game. His depreciation may be caused by injuries, lack of interest, or even poor team chemistry and understanding of where he is needed the most.

“It’s the greatest failure in franchise history. It’s one of the greatest failures in NBA history. It’s a failure on every level. From the front office to head coach to the players,”  said Nick Wright on the Lakers. He continued to explain why LeBron James cannot be relied on during the post-season because he is not in his “prime” any more. He pointed out the excuse the Lakers had given for James’ shortcomings during last year’s playoff upset.

Wright also shared his thoughts on Anthony Davis and the decrease in productivity since last season. Davis had not had a single 35+ point game this season which he would have done otherwise in a healthy and properly functioning team. “At 27-years old, he wins the title, was great the entire season, out played Jokic. Since then, he’s scored more than 35 in a game four times, total. I don’t know what’s happened, I’ve never seen something like it,” said Wright. Colin Cowherd who was accompanied by Wright said that Davis has gone past his peak and is now declining earlier than expected.
