James Worthy
The best young players in the NBA took the center stage for the Rising Star Competition on Day 1 of the All-Star weekend. With four coaches having four elite teams, it seems like James Worthy might have gone overboard with opposition’s coach Isiah Thomas, which even left the commentator perplexed, along with the match referees.
To those who are not aware, Team Isiah locked horns with Team Worthy in the opening matchup. With both teams having A-listed youngsters in their side, the on-court drama surely lived up to the hype created before the game. And safe to say, James Worthy was not ready to let his team not make the Championship game.

James Worthy gets utterly frustrated with Isiah Thomas
Given that the Rising Star Competition has plenty of competition among the rookies and sophomore players, the coaches are armed up as well. Isiah Thomas’ troops rallied from behind thanks to two foul calls on Worthy’s players. It led the Lakers legend to drop a hilarious F-bomb on the referees.

For what it’s worth, James Worthy was not the only NBA All-Star coach frustrated at the lack of calls. Gary Payton also begged for the referees to call more fouls, albeit in a less crude way.

That being said, it was Team Barry who emerged as the Rising Star Champs with Evan Mobley and Cade Cunningham leading the charge against Team Isiah in the final. As tough as the first-round game were. The finale was a showdown of first-to-25-points, wherein Thomas’ team looked out of shape. Moreover, courtesy to a 13-2 late run, Team Barry went onto clinch the silverware. The #1 2021 NBA Draft pick, Cunningham was named as the MVP.
All eyes will be on the young stars like Desmond Bane, Jalen Green, Cole Anthony as they take their prowess to respective competition on Day 2. Can anyone of these youngsters win big against the big lads of NBA? Remains to be seen as the All-Star festivity continues over the weekend.
