Over the past few years, Jaylen Brown has turned from being a quiet young player to someone who does not fear the consequences whenever he wants to voice an opinion.
Whether it was going up against Nike and USA Basketball for blatantly ignoring him for the Paris Olympics squad. After all, he was the reigning Finals MVP, which meant he had earned the right through merit, if not for anything else.
Fast forward to now, the 29-year-old has been speaking about various topics, with the latest being criticism of the NBA’s officiating after their loss to the San Antonio Spurs. After he told reporters that game footage would prove that the officials were leaning towards handing the Spurs some favorable calls, he tweeted on social media, taunting the NBA to fine him.
He even asked for the help of fans to find out clips proving his point. When a user named Jack Simone obliged, Brown reposted the clip to his X feed.
He knew expressing his frustrations about officiating, something the league does not take lightly, would warrant a fine, and he was alright with it. The NBA obliged.

They slapped him with a $35,000 fine for his ‘public criticism’ of the officiating in that Celtics vs. Spurs game at TD Garden. The fine might not make a major dent in his massive salary, but it was the league’s way of warning him that more could come if he continues along this path.
Jaylen Brown claims he is the greatest
Thousands of athletes have played in an NBA game, and fewer have had a career worth talking about. Then there is Jaylen Brown, who believes he is the greatest.

Pound for pound, I’m the greatest.
Jaylen Brown wrote on X
This was his response to a Boston Celtics video of him first working his way in a boxing gym, and then showcasing his highlights from this season for the All-Star vote.
Many might scoff at Brown’s claim to be the greatest basketball player of all time, but he did not specifically mention that. He just wrote ‘greatest’, without linking it to basketball.

The All-Star vote might incline one to think that he is talking about the game that he plays every other day, but the California Golden Bear has acknowledged others to be the greatest in the sport.
Therefore, he could be talking about him as a person who has various skills outside of basketball. Even if fans, his peers, former players, and analysts might not be interested in his other skills, they do have a glowing opinion of his ability to dribble a basketball.
Carmelo Anthony gives Jaylen Brown glowing praise
Until last season, many felt that Jaylen Brown was constantly living in the shadow of his teammate Jayson Tatum, who was hogging the individual award categories.
As he is continuing his recovery from the surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon, the Georgia native has taken over as the de facto leader of the Boston Celtics.
The question for him was, can he lead a team by himself? He’s shown and proven that not only can he lead a team, but I’m also the best two-way player in this NBA.
Carmelo Anthony said on 7PM in Brooklyn
The Hall of Famer framed this opinion after Brown recently claimed that he was the best two-way player in the league. Carmelo Anthony agreed and went on to add that the Celtics star has risen to the level where he clears other exceptional two-way players.
Melo sees Jaylen Brown's leap and wants more from OG Anunoby 😳

“[Jaylen] has proven that not only he could lead a team, but also the best 2-way player in this NBA".
“I love OG as being the best 2-way player, I just don't believe OG believes he’s the best 2-way player.” pic.twitter.com/opd0zJGPax
The only comparison for Anthony would be OG Anunoby. But the New York Knicks legend reiterated that Jaylen Brown’s ability to go off and score 50 points is what sets him apart.
