The NBA playoffs are unpredictable and can have the fans enjoy a complete rollercoaster ride. As nobody knows how one team can turn the tables around during a seven game series. But the history keeps repeating itself at many moments. And, the same can be the case for Jimmy Butler and Miami Heat. As history sides with them and it’s fair as they are one of the best 8th seeds ever.

The Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat has the Boston Celtics down and maintaining a 0-2 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals. And, a recent viral stat from the league’s history reports: “Road teams that start 2-0 are undefeated in Conference Finals.” The stat is already booking Miami Heat for the 2023 NBA Finals.

As it claims the Boston Celtics who currently have a 0-2 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals won’t be able to run a comeback against the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat. But let’s not forget that the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown-led Boston Celtics are a different team which has been balling out on the road instead of owning their visitors in the home arena, TD Garden this post-season. So the chances of them upsetting history and getting another trip to the NBA Finals are real as the series isn’t over yet.

The league has seen several hard to believe comebacks in history and even in the ongoing post-season run. Here you can know about the road teams which overcame a 0-2 deficit after losing two straight games at home. This is yet to happen in the Conference Finals so the history still is riding away from the Boston Celtics. But still, there have been instances where teams have run a successful comeback on the road you can see all those teams here below and the Celtics Nation can root for the team to make this list:

  • 1969 Los Angeles Lakers

The 1969 Los Angeles Lakers lost the first two home games against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Division Semifinals. But then went on a four-game winning streak and won the series by overcoming the 0-2 deficit. The team even advanced to the NBA Finals that year but unfortunately lost Game 7 to the Boston Celtics in clutch at 106-108.

  • 1993 Phoenix Suns

The 1993 Phoenix Suns were a special team led by Charles Barkley and they have even recorded a special comeback on the road. As losing both their home games in the Western Conference First Round to the Los Angeles Lakers and maintaining a 0-2 deficit. They went on to win the series at 3-2 and in those three wins had a blowout dub and a OT run too.

  • 1994 Houston Rockets

The 1994 Houston Rockets were maintaining a 0-2 deficit against the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference Semifinals. The series was a complete showdown of greats between Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley. But the Rockets turned the table after going down 0-2 at home. As they went on to win the next three games and won the series in 7 and also won the NBA Championship that year.

  • 2005 Dallas Mavericks

The 2005 Dallas Mavericks were maintaining a 0-2 deficit before going on the road for Game 3 against the Houston Rockets. As Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry took control over the game once they were at Houston. Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming did their best but weren’t able to stop the Mavs who advanced to the semifinals against the Phoenix Suns after wrapping the series up at 4-3.

  • 2017 Boston Celtics

The 2017 Boston Celtics team led by Isiah Thomas and Avery Bradley clowned the league during their first round series against the Miami Heat. After the first two games at home, they were maintaining a 0-2 deficit against the Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade-led Chicago Bulls. But unexpectedly they turned the tables around and went on to win the next four games.

  • 2021 Los Angeles Clippers

The 2021 Los Angeles Clippers led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were clowned by the Luka Doncic-led Dallas Mavericks for the first two games at Crypto.com Arena. As they started the series maintaining a 0-2 deficit at home but forced a Game 7 and got the job done against the young Mavs team.

The league so far has seen six teams coming back from maintaining a 0-2 deficit at home and then going to ball out on the road. The Boston Celtics have a chance to make it to the list and if they do so, they’ll create history by becoming the first team to do so in the Conference Finals.
