Joel Embiid throw subtle shade at Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics after blowout win

Amidst all the confusion regarding point guard Ben Simmons’ future as a Philadelphia 76er, the team also went through a rough patch with COVID-19. At one of the season, it seemed like the team was about to miss participating in the post-season.

But right now they have been dominating the Eastern Conference rankings beating teams with the help of their lead Joel Embiid who is arguably having another MVP level season averaging 27 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. His dominance and insane talent managed to bring the 76ers among the top five in the East with a record of 24 wins and 17 losses.

The Philadelphia 76ers cause another blowout during win over the Boston Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers took on the Boston Celtics on Friday night and the world had the opportunity to witness another massive blowout win. The 76ers had outscored the Celtics 32-14 in the first quarter and maintained a good lead ever since throughout the entire game.

The 76ers defensive plays gave them a massive boost as they recorded a total of 12 steals and just 9 turnovers. The Celtics on the other hand were almost too sloppy with the ball as they recorded 20 turnovers

Joel Embiid led his team once again with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists on the board followed by a solid 23 points from Tyrese Maxey. Seth Curry and Tobias Harris had a combined total of 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. The team shot 44.7% from the field, 34.1% from three, and nailed 21 out of 25 free throw attempts.

For the Celtics, it was yet another night filled with empty numbers all because of turnovers. Jayson Tatum recorded 20 points with 11 rebounds and 5 assists during the game. Jaylen Brown had 21 points but never produced much on facilitation. Robert Willams III had a good night grabbing 14 boards along with 12 points.

Joel Embiid throws shade towards Boston Celtics

Following their win, 76ers center Joel Embiid had some words for his opponents of the night saying,” If you compare, you know, tonight from the other night, it’s kind of easier to guard. Charlotte, they move the ball extremely well. They have shooters all over the place, and they made a bunch of jump shots. Obviously, Boston is more of an iso-heavy team. So it kind of becomes easier to kind of load up and try to stop them.”

The big man’s words do have heaps of validity to them as both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have tendencies to run the offense entirely when given the ball. This would give the opposition more clues to work with as the game is bound to get predictable and easier to maneuver eventually. This comment could also be a dig at the Celtics team for being “too easy” to play against. The Celtics will have their shot at redemption as they are set to meet the 76ers once again during mid-February.
