The relationship between Julius Randle and New York Knicks has experienced a significant dip ever since the 2021-22 season began. Currently, not being in the state of making it into the playoffs, Tom Thibodeau’s team is expected to make some changes, approaching the trade deadline on 10th February. One of the many marquee names to head into the last day, includes Julius Randle.
To those who are not aware, Randle and Knicks have had some confrontations. Starting with the fans booing him at home, to the player reciprocating by showing a thumbs down. The hate-saga turned upon tis head when his name came into the trade mill. And on a recent occasion, when Julius Randle was himself inquired about the trade rumors, he surely could not control his verbal temper and rage upon the same reporter.
Julius Randle rages upon reporter questioning upon trade deadline rumors
Randle is the reigning Most Improved Player in the league and has been under scrutiny for not being able to guide the team, especially when they are seeking inspiration and leadership. That being said, the player clearly wanted to know from where and who has started these rumors in the first place. When the reporter did not have a definite answer, matters would’ve escalated if it wasn’t for another reporter chiming in.
To be honest, it doesn’t look like Randle will part ways with New York Knicks, especially after the extension was signed before the start of this season. While his numbers this season are substantially lower than last, he’s still one of their most productive scorers and rebounders. The former Kentucky standout signed a four-year, $117 million extension with the Knicks last August after he helped lead them to the No. 3 seed in the East in 2020-21.
Lastly, with the trade deadline approaching, the Knicks seem to mean serious business. The important thing, however, is to check whether or not Randle will be an important part with the business end of the season coming closer? Hopefully, time will unravel all answers.
