After an epic career on the court, Charles Barkley is known for the larger-than-life persona he has, as a commentator. However, when the 59-year-old Hall of Famer decided to burden the hoop world by going shirtless, Hurricanes’ Jim Larranaga did end up becoming the hero. Safe to say, not all heroes wear capes. 

To those who are not aware, Charles Barkley earlier joked he would take off his shirt if the Auburn beat Hurricanes couple of nights earlier. When Jim Larranaga was made aware of the news, he surely had an interesting take on the same.

How did Jim Larranaga clowns Charles Barkley?

“I listened to Charles Barkley tell the CBS crew that if Auburn won, he’d take off his shirt. And, I thought to myself, no one wants to see that, Charles Barkley,” Jim Larranaga said. 

Obviously, Barkley has ties to Auburn, he played for the Tigers for three years averaging 14.1 points per game. So, it’s safe to say he was a bit biased in his prediction. Auburn was 7.5-point favourite over Miami, so Barkley, like most people, was stunned when the Hurricanes easily handled Auburn. Miami dominated the Tigers, 79-61, to advance to the Sweet 16 and it seems coach Larranaga and his team played with extra motivation thanks to Chuck. 

After the game, Barkley was a good sport about Jim Larranaga’s pot shot and even heaped praise on Jim for the way the Hurricanes beat up on his LSU Tigers. That being said, the March Madness is surely getting interesting day-by-day as the season is progressing. Will we see the rise of the underdogs? Or is one of the favorites going to lift the silverware once again? Remains to be seen.

Lastly, Miami is all set to lock horns against the 11nd seeded Iowa State in the next round. Will we see the favorite coming through? Or are we in for a fairy tale ride? All speculations shall be answered in the coming weeks.
