Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets could be facing major COVID headache amid playoff push
Barclays Center - Brooklyn Nets
The hiatus caused by COVID-19 pandemic has surely come to a relative calm in the last few months, as compared to the massacre earlier. With everyone moving towards the new normal once again, COVID hasn’t surely disappeared. As a matter of fact, Kevin Durant and his Brooklyn Nets could very well be facing a major headache entering the postseason.
Brooklyn Nets Coach Steve Nash revealed, just before the game against Atlanta Hawks, that Goran Dragic has shown symptoms of coronavirus. As a result of which, the veteran guard has been placed on the league’s health and safety protocols. Not revealing much, Nash precisely mentioned that the 35-year-old guard ‘doesn’t feel well.’ Joining the Barclays Center team as a free agent in February, Dragic has been averaging 7.3 points, 4.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds.

Another headache on the cards for Brooklyn Nets?
Incidentally, Bruce Brown was also unavailable for Wednesday’s clash against the Hawks. According to Nash, Brown has the flu. It doesn’t sound like Brown has been placed on the NBA’s health and safety protocols but it would not be a complete shock given the Dragic situation.
Coach Nash was a bit more optimistic about Brown, though, saying that the team hopes to get him back sooner rather than later.
“I think some of these things are 24 hours to 72 hours,” Nash said of Bruce Brown’s illness. “Hopefully, we’re in that timeframe and he can play on Tuesday.”
That being said, the last thing the Nets need right now is for any more of their players to exhibit any COVID symptoms as they fight for positioning in the last stretch of the regular season. All teams entering the postseason in the Eastern Conference are locked and by the looks of it, Kevin Durant’s Nets will surely be contesting in the play-in tournament. Will the COVID hiatus once again haunt them? Just 4 more games remaining for one of the championship favorites, where will they finish in the East standings? Remains to be seen.
