Kevin Durant’s wild career high game ends with bad news of play-in tournament certification

Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin
The 8th seed in the Eastern Conference has three contenders- Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets. With no risk of either of these three teams falling out of the postseason berths, Kevin Durant unleashed his best, has stamped his authority all over the Hawks’ defense, registering a new-career high 55-point tally. But it wasn’t all good news, as even then, the Hawks managed to get the better of the away team 122-115.

On one hand, where Trae Young managed to lead his team sensationally with 36 points and 10 assists, it was Kevin Durant who stole all the headlines. The Slim Reaper was at his best whilst tormenting the Hawks defense throughout the four quarters. However, with no other player apart from Kyrie Irving not bringing their absolute best, Durant found himself helpless on the offensive end.

Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets to contest in play-in tournament

Kevin Durant is averaging over 29 points per contest. He is shooting over 52 percent from the field and over 37 percent from deep. There is no question that he would be right in the middle of the MVP conversation had he not missed a significant amount of time due to injury.
Talking about his elite shooting rate against the Hawks, Durant shot an efficient 19-28 from the field to go along with an even better 8-10 showing from beyond the arc in the remarkable effort.
As long as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving led Brooklyn Nets are heading to the postseason, they will always be among the championship contenders. Given the form, this former MVP can pick up to the pace of the game in order to lead his team in a seven-game series. But now Brooklyn Nets fell to the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference standings with the loss. With only a handful of games remaining, Brooklyn is destined for the play-in tournament.
Hopefully they can find their best form and combination in the handful of games remaining in the regular season.
