Lakers star LeBron James reacts to Packers trading Davante Adams to Raiders
Davante Adams and LeBron James
The free agency period of any sport has to be one of the scariest and most exciting events to take place. The eagerness to see moves your favored team makes to make their winning chances increase. In the NBA at least, at times like this fans are constantly on their feet waiting to hear the latest signings and updates in team rosters.
Much like the NBA, the National Football League (NFL) also conducts free agency where players are allowed to choose their future in the league. Recently, the NFL free agency started and teams have been making big-time signings. The Green Bay Packers made headlines after trading away two-time All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to their rivals the Las Vegas Raiders.
LA Lakers superstar LeBron James reacts to blockbuster Packers-Raiders trade
LeBron James, the 19-year veteran and arguably the greatest of all time has been a huge football fan ever since his younger days. James himself was a really good football player in high school and was seen as a potential top-level prospect. He played for two seasons at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. There he played the role of a wide receiver who had the honors of being called an All-Ohio wide receiver during both seasons.
As a former wide receiver himself, the Los Angeles Lakers’ forward would definitely know a thing or two on Davante Adams’ worth on the Raiders roster. The 18-time All-Star was one of the first ones to react to the incredible signing by the Raiders. He took to Twitter saying, “Somebody please check on my brothers @AnDavis23 and @RomeTrav Man O Man!! *Cheese emoticon* ain’t smelling too good right now.”
LeBron James and Davante Adams both have similar tendencies
Adams has been one of the NFL’s most valuable receivers since. The 22nd overall pick in the NFL draft entered the league eight seasons ago. The player signed a five-year $141.25 million (US) deal with the Raiders. This is the richest deal that a wide receiver has ever been made. Adams has been a driving-soled driving force in the Packers’ offense leaving a dent in their roster and Aaron Rodgers without a perfect weapon as himself.
Similarly, LeBron has also been a huge gain factor on offense in any team that he has been part of. This year especially, his antics on offense have carried to Lakers the 9th seed in the Western Conference. The Lakers are currently hanging on by a thin thread with a record of 29 wins and 40 losses. LeBron recently became one of the oldest players to score 50 points at the age of 37. He is currently averaging 29.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.2 assists on 52% shooting. The Lakers are expected to compete in the play-in tournament for a spot in the playoffs.
