“LeBron has won a championship everywhere he’s done it ….KD too” Damian Lillard believes changing teams doesn’t work out for everybody

On Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe sat down with the Portland Trailblazers player Damian Lillard, at the podcast, where a lot of things were being discussed about the game of basketball. There was a topic that caught the attention, of where a player leaves their teams to win a championship with some other team if they can’t win the championship where they currently are.

Shannon Sharpe has put in the perfect words to describe the ‘new era’ of basketball which is, the ‘ Player Empowerment movement’. With this, he was in a long discussion, with Damian Lillard where he asked him about his status of staying with his current team and get an opinion from him about what he thinks about moving out if he felt like answering it. Lillard very precisely put it, “To each his own”. He further stated that a player should move to another team if that is what brings them happiness, and they shouldn’t stop and gladly move ahead with it.

Damian Lillard said, “To each his own. If that’s what feels fine for you and makes you happy, I think you should do it.” Lillard responded. “Bron has won a championship everywhere he’s done it at. He even circled back to Cleveland and won the championship. KD the same, you know, he went to Golden State, he won his two. To each his own.”

Damian Lillard says its not always that switching team’s work

 It has been a trend and an open fact that players have chosen to switch to teams that have a higher market value and have star-power in their team, which would give them a huge chance to win an NBA title if they opted to switch teams. This is something that everybody does, it is unlike the old days when players were either traded or terminated the contract of the players to let them go. Players often even give their suggestions to the board about which player they should bring on board.

Damian Lillard has told that LeBron James has made it work for him wherever he went, be it with the Miami Heat, the Cleveland Cavalier, and also done it with the Los Angeles Laker. Another player like Kevin Durant also switched to the Golden State Warriors, where he eventually won his first NBA title. But the thing is that it does not always work out. It is part of the trade, the players just need to be ready if things don’t go as they had imagined they would go.
