LeBron James gets put on display after winning multiple awards for his works in the movie Space Jam: A New Legacy. The RAZZIE Awards took place ahead of the Oscars where actors and movies would be given all of the worst awards for the lamest films. The movie received most of the awards that evening for the underwhelming outcomes.
LeBron James had earlier been trolled over the internet for trying to be Michael Jordan as the GOAT had starred in an earlier release of the movie. James won worst actor and worst screen couple while the movie won the worst sequel award. Along with Space Jam, a musical based on the Princess of Wales titled “Diana” and former Oscar winner Jared Leto were also among the winners of the night.
LeBron James tries to follow the steps of the greatest of all time
On 16th July 2021, Space Jam: A New Legacy was released starring LeBron James. The semi-animated movie had a lot of expectations ahead of its release as an earlier release of the movie starred none other than Michael Jordan. Following its release, many were extremely disappointed by the way the Los Angeles Lakers player had acted. The movie only managed to earn a grand total of $162.8 million (US) in box office earnings with a 4.4/10 rating on IMDb.
Besides LeBron’s acting, fans of the MJ space movie looked down on the King for trying to take over the greatest of all-time debate. LeBron looked at it differently saying that he wished to make MJ proud. He said, “I was extremely nervous to even redo this film. But I put my heart into it, I put my looniness into it obviously with Tunes and committed to it. I’m excited for what people are going to see.”
LeBron James begins his path to a new legacy for himself
Despite the numerous negative comments the superstar has received, it is obvious that being on the big screen in Hollywood is not his top priority. The NBA veteran has been numb to the hate for a long time and his game never stops. Recently, James moved up to second place on the all-time scoring list passing Karl Malone. He is less than 1,400 points away from being the all-time leading scorer in NBA history.
LeBron had also become the first-ever player to cumulate 36,000 points with 10,000 assists and 10,000 rebounds throughout the regular season. This year he has been averaging 30 points along with 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game on 52.3% shooting. The Lakers have not been great this season and are currently fighting for a play-in berth ahead of the playoffs. But LBJ and his team are hopeful that they will make it through.
