Pau Gasol – No. 16
The Los Angeles Lakers retired the iconic No 16 jersey in honour of Pau Gasol on March 7, 2023. Gasol’s No 16 is the latest addition to the precious LA Lakers’ retired jersey numbers collection.
An all-time great, Pau Gasol won two back-to-back NBA Championship titles with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. Pairing up with Kobe Bryant, Gasol led the team to their title glory as an instrumental part of the squad. The legend’s banner was unveiled during the halftime ceremony organised to mark the occasion.
The event started with Vanessa Bryant introducing a video where Kobe was seen to be speaking excitedly about the look that would be there on Gasol’s face the day he would have to give a speech standing centre court on the eve of his jersey retirement ceremony. The genteel big man teared up as his iconic No 16 earned an eternal place in the team’s history.
Kobe Bryant – No. 8 & No. 24
The late Kobe Bryant’s legendary No. 8 and No. 24 had been retired on December 18, 2017. Kobe won a total of 5 Championships donning the gold and purple – three wearing his No. 8 and the other two in his iconic No. 24.

Lakers retired the iconic No 22 on November 20, 1996, in honour of Elgin Baylor. The Lakers legend ranks among all-time franchise leaders in numerous categories, including rebounds (1st, 11,463), points (3rd, 23,149) and assists (6th, 3,650).

Magic Johnson – No. 32

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – No. 33
