“MALIK MONK SHOT OUT OF A CANNON”: Twitter is “Speechless” after Malik Monk’s Dunk Against the Hawks

Malik Monk was on fire against the Atlanta Hawks last night. The LA Lakers hosted the Hawks at the newly named Crypto.com Arena for a match that could be called a turning point for the Lakers.

Any win for the Lakers at this moment can change of tide for them but last night’s victory meant something else as the Lakers won their 4th consecutive match. Well, since the season began to win and the Lakers didn’t exactly cooperate with each other when used in the same sentence but seem like the Lakers have managed to turn it around.

The Lakers held off the Hawks 134-118 with LeBron James scoring 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists and Malik Monk dropping his season-high 29 points. Russell Westbrook may not have been very effective in the points department but the former MVP did well in rebounds and assists.

Westbrook played for 31 minutes and scored 9 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists for the Lakers. Westbrook’s stance is fluctuating in the Lakers’ starting 5 as the All-Star is unable to give what he’s expected. There’s no doubt that he is skilled and talented but nobody wants a dulled star on the court when the roster is full of stars.

Malik Monk was cruising through in Friday’s match with a season-high of 29 points. The LA Lakers got more than what they expected after signing Monk in free agency for a year over the summer. In an interview, Malik disclosed the reason for signing with the Lakers.

He said, “The environment, man. And this organization, and all the knowledge that I’ll learn. How to be a pro, how to work, how to work smarter, and just how to be a man too, as well.

The Lakers do possess some of the best players in the league and Malik can definitely learn a lot from the veterans.  Malik has been impressive on the court especially in last night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. But his dunk totally stole the show. It was like a cherry on the cake moment for the Lakers nation.

This all transpired during the 4th quarter when the Lakers were 130-112 when Avery Bradley shoots a three-pointer but misses it but Malik comes from behind, flies over the defenders, and dunks the ball right in the basket.  And, everyone just lost it: the Lakers bench, the commentators, spectators, and the Twitter.

The LA Lakers head coach also praised Malik Monk’s performance and told the reporters, “What we love about him is that he can create, and he can be a finisher. He’s playing really well in all ways you can offensively.”
