“Man, is there a gun in the house? I’ll shoot myself than watch that.”: SiriusXM golf analyst Mark Lye fired after controversial comments on WNBA
Mark Lye
Mark Lye is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour and now is turned into a golf commentator for SiriusXM for PGA Tour radio. But on Sunday a SiriusXM spokesperson confirmed that Mark Lye is fired from his role because of his WNBA comments. As an email from SiriusXM to GOLF.com had it quoted in simple ways that: “will no longer be hosting.”
A controversial comment from Mark Lye on Saturday’s episode of The Scorecard, took away his job and respect. As his thoughts on women’s sports and watching them aren’t that good and kind for many around the globe to even have those heard. Discussing the LPGA Tour, Mark Lye quoted: “You know, the LPGA Tour to me is a completely different tour than it was 10 years ago. You couldn’t pay me to watch. You really couldn’t. Because I just, I couldn’t relate at all. It’s kind of like, you know, if you’re a basketball player and I’m not trashing anybody, please don’t take it the wrong way but I saw some highlights of ladies’ basketball. Man, is there a gun in the house? I’ll shoot myself than watch that (laughing).”
Not stopping there and keeping on adding a reasoning to it Mark Lye further quoted: “You know, I love watching the men’s basketball. I love watching the men’s golf. I never used to like watching ladies’ golf. But I will tell you this. I’ve been up close watching these ladies play because I used to have a big function every year called the Lucas Cup and I’d have LPGA players and PGA Tour players.” After all this, the co-host understanding the segment going horrible stepped in and said “Good luck getting some WNBA stars to come play for you.” Replying to this Lye said: “Yeah I know, I know. I’m off their list. I’m sorry about that.”
This whole conversation of 59 seconds by Mark Lye was clipped by a Twitter user and posted which now stands viral and as a result has Mark Lye fired from his job.

Mark Lye on getting fired for his comments on WNBA
Mark Lye in his defense after getting fired Tweeted: “The fact that I can’t relate to WNBA does not make me sexist in any way. All you haters should listen to the whole segment, where I completely glorified womens golf, which I love to cover. Thanks for listening.” Before at GOLF.com he already mentioned how he has apologized for his comments made about WNBA where he quoted: “I was terminated about comments made about the WNBA, which I apologized for starting the next segment.”
