Memphis Grizzlies blasted off a 30-year-Old NBA record with an Impeccable performance against the Oklahoma City Thunders

The matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder will be written with golden ink under brutal matches in the NBA History Book.

When the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Star-studded roster of LA Lakers in a close match by 107-104, the theories regarding Thunders finally growing from a cub to a lion were formed but who knew that was just a momentary adrenaline rush that got them the victory.

The Oklahoma City Thunder is one of the most unimpressive teams this season if the facts are considered. They are amongst the last three teams in the Western Conference with a score of 6-16. And, when they matched up against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, then the things just got ugly. Really displeasing for the Thunders.

“Records are meant to be broke”- Memphis Grizzlies broke records with victory over Oklahoma City Thunders

The FedEx Forum witnessed a historical moment yesterday. The Memphis Grizzlies blasted off the Thunders in a dreading score of 159-79. This is the biggest lead with which a team has won since Cleveland’s 148-80 (68 points) win over Miami in December 1991.

It took the record 30 years to get broken but when it did it is a sight for the sore eyes to see.

The Grizzlies sailed through the entire match like it was sliding down a slide in a child’s park. They just didn’t dominate their opponents but destroyed them completely.

The Grizzlies by half-time were 72-36 but that just didn’t stop their desire of shooting up the scoreboard. They dropped 80 points in the second quarter making it impossible for the Thunders to even think of returning back into the game.

Thunders’ Coach Mark Daigneault felt that this loss doesn’t define his team, and it is just a match and holds no accountability. He said, “Tonight is not necessarily who we are. I think we’ve definitely shown that from a competitive standpoint. This isn’t indicative of who our team is.”

John Konchar who scored double figures for the team told the reporters, “At that moment, I didn’t know it was a franchise record. I just kind of saw the lane, and I dunked it. But it’s awesome.”

De’Anthony Melton scored 19 points and was elated with how his team performed. He said, “Man, it feels great. It feels great to be in the history books, especially in front of our home crowd. And we did it one through 15. Everybody contributed, everybody played hard and we all got to get in the game. So, it’s always a blessing.”

He further went on to add how they mentally prepared themselves knowing Morant will not be part of the roster, “We knew with (Morant) going down what we had to do. We had to step up.”

The fans are blown away by the outstanding performance of the Memphis Grizzlies and that took on Twitter to rejoice at this moment with memes.

The disparity between both the teams in terms of talent and skills was conspicuously laid down on the court when the Grizzlies even without their star guard Ja Morant just jazzed the entire Thunders one-sidedly. The Memphis Grizzlies will face the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
