Kendrick Perkins is a retired NBA player who now is a host at ESPN’s First Take and also a player analyst for the same company. Recently, he made it to the headlines as sitting alongside Stephen A. Smith his take on comparing Kevin Durant and Michael Jordan for their scoring heroics stands viral all over the internet. Both the players are NBA greats as they made it to the NBA 75 and also have a staged resume. But the debate of the Greatest Scorer of All-Time started the comparison. The other players who are part of the conversation are Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Michael Jordan has the NBA’s best all-time scoring average of 30.12 points per game. He is fifth in career scoring at 32,292 points. While Kevin Durant on the other hand has 25,176 points in his 13th season and is ranked 22nd in career scoring. He will be entering the top 10 within the next season or so. Currently, his scoring average is 27.139 points per game as he leads the Brooklyn Nets along with Kyrie Irving.

Stephen A. Smith turned the discussion into a debate as he thinks Michael Jordan is better than Kevin Durant and hence he is the greatest scorer of all time while KD can be one if he wants to be. Kendrick Perkins again didn’t hold himself back and cutting down the cutter made bold claims against Michael Jordan while setting Kevin Durant up and high as the greatest scorer of all time.

Kendrick Perkins started his rally by appreciating Kevin Durant as he quoted: “Lebron James is in the top five, but when I go with the greatest scorer of all-time, I’m going with Kevin Durant.” Perkins said. “And here’s why. When you talk about a guy that has zero flaws offensively, Kevin Durant has everything and more on his offensive arsenal. Here’s the difference between KD and everybody else: his jumpshot and his efficiency. … If Kevin Durant really wanted to, he could have 10 to about 11 scoring titles.”

Further, when Stephen A. Smith brought Michael Jordan into the conversation Kendrick Perkins added the example of Larry Bird and his shooting skills. Disrespecting the Black Jesus, Kendrick quoted: “Jordan was never part of the 50/40/90 club, because he did not shoot the trey ball like that.” Stephen A. Smith though always sticked with his opinion on Jordan as he gave a perfect reasoning for it. But he also accepted how Kevin Durant moving to Golden State Warriors and sacrificing all those scoring titles changes the whole storyline. Both superstars have played in different eras and have different game-styles with completely different skills so comparing their heroics isn’t sensible and the answer will always be a mystery as the G.O.A.T debate is.
