Stan Van Gundy a former National Basketball Association’s coach who now has turned into an NBA analyst for TNT as his love for the game is still alive. Having a coaching career of 40 years, Stan Van Gundy has seen most of the generational talents go up and down in their journeys like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Recently, Stan showed his appreciation for Michael Jordan the Chicago Bulls legend who is regarded as the G.O.A.T for many. In his appreciative tweet, Stan quoted: “Michael Jordan got hurt and missed 64 games his second year in the league. He came back from his foray into baseball in 1994-95 to play 17 games. In his other 11 years with the Bulls he missed a total of 7 games and averaged over 38 minutes a game. Still seemed OK in the playoffs.”

No names were mentioned by Stan Van Gundy but the tweet was a perfect shot for modern-day players especially the superstars who get a lot of attention for playing heavy minutes before play-offs and carrying the team. Some of such names in the league who have done so or are doing are LeBron James and Kevin Durant. The players in the modern NBA also have load management where they can rest and be ready for the important match-ups something stars in the ’90s like Michael Jordan didn’t even think about.

Stan Van Gundy in his appreciative tweet for Michael Jordan praised him for his consistency throughout his career even though he retired for some years in between but coming back won it all once again. Michael Jordan never complained for his minutes nor did his coach as being a superstar he is meant to play those and deliver for the team. But the players today aren’t the same as many tend to complain and many don’t.

Earlier this season LeBron James and Kevin Durant were the players who were carrying their teams playing heavy minutes and delivering MVP calibre performances while not even complaining for a second. But the respective coaches of both were worried about the load on them and somewhere they were very right as LeBron James recently recovered from a knee injury and Kevin Durant is still sidelined due to an MCL sprain.

This is what differentiates Michael Jordan from modern-day players as a superstar. Michael changed his sport from Basketball to Baseball something completely different with different drills and body structures. But returning to the league and coming out of retirement was still able to three-peat and win multiple awards. Michael Jordan’s consistently played the best basketball ever with the best resume without even knowing and using load management unlike players today. Many believe if Jordan used the concept and had enough rest he would be easily able to add some more years to his legendary career.
