Insane stats suggests just why the Celtics loss in 2022 Finals would not affect Jayson Tatum’s legacy

Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum is one of the most consistent performers in the 2022 postseason and with that, he established himself as a genuine superstar of modern-day NBA. To add to this stellar run of his in the on-going playoffs, his incredible stats suggest that outcome of the NBA Finals would not deter his legacy.

Boston Celtics have their backs at the wall. Golden State Warriors will be coming hard at them in game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals and they need to be prepared for the same. Celtics managed to overcome Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets and defending Champions Milwaukee Bucks in the conference rounds. Though they are still in contention for the 2022 title, many people are ruling out the possibility of game 7, favoring the Warriors for an upcoming game. That means the Celtics after a hard-fought season will have to start again from the scratch in 2023 to capture their 18th championship. But the questions will be raised and more importantly Jayson Tatum will be targeted if they fail to deliver Championship this term around.

But stats suggest that Jayson Tatum has been on roll for the Boston Celtics and played his part well in all the series. Though he had not had any massive game to remember these finals for, he hardly failed on the court at just 24 years of age.

The Boston Celtics was one team that surprised everyone with a strong run in the 2022 calendar year. They had a very poor start to the season, and despite the talent in the roaster team failed to win games on a stretch. But the turn of the calendar year turned fortunes for the Celts. Their defense suddenly took a huge boost with the whole squad playing together and Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown made baskets count on the offensive end of the floor.

In playoffs also, the Celtics were the only team who managed a clean sweep in any round as they dispatched title favorites Brooklyn Nets with ease. They followed the impressive 7-game series against Milwaukee Bucks and the season’s top-seeded Miami Heat. Jayson Tatum was hugely important in all those games averaging 25.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in the final seven games. He even won the inaugural Eastern Conference Finals MVP Award, for his consistency.

As for the whole 2022 postseason, Tatum manages to cross the three-figure mark in points, rebounds, and assists as he has 602 points, 158 rebounds, and 141 assists in 23 games played. That made him the youngest to score 600+ points with 100+ rebounds and assists in a single playoff run.

The regularity on the floor shown by Duke Prodigy is unbelievable and helped the team to make it this far in the postseason. He leads the team in scoring, assists, steals, and minutes played while remaining second to Al Horford in the rebounds. An all-around performance from Tatum certainly puts him in the top 5 performers of the 2022 playoffs, and the Celtics may win or lose the Finals series, but it would not impact his impact in the games and also the legacy of potential hall of fame athlete.
