Official: LeBron James’ right foot ailment is slated to be reevaluated in two weeks
King James' injury might be more serious than it looks and it can be a scary thing for the Lakers
The season is going to get more difficult for the Los Angeles Lakers as LeBron James might get sidelined for the rest of the season. The King had his ankle injured during the team’s last game against the Dallas Mavericks.
The Lakers mounted a comeback of heroic proportions to beat the Mavs. After falling behind by 27 points in the second quarter, James and Anthony Davis inspired the team to win 108-111. The injury is being reported as serious enough to make James miss out on two to three weeks of action.
ESPN Insider Adrian Wajnarowsky today tweeted, “LeBron James’s right foot is expected to be reassessed in two weeks to see how much progress he’s made, but timeline on return expected to extend beyond that checkpoint. Where Lakers reside in standings by then could impact how soon it makes sense for him to return.”
According to reports, the small forward had heard a ‘pop’ when he landed on his right ankle in the third quarter. He missed the layup and landed awkwardly. This didn’t stop him from continuing with the game as he ended the match with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
James drove on Dwight Powell and went for a lay up but he missed. He landed on his ankle and claimed that he heard a pop right then. Coach Darvin Ham, however, denied hearing any such sound. “I didn’t hear that it popped. I didn’t hear him say that at all,” said the coach.
Even after the game, the 38-year-old said that the injury was not serious. Talking about the injury, James said, “It’s been better, that’s for sure. But I definitely wasn’t going to go to the locker room and not finish the game out tonight. Just understood the importance of the game, and then with the momentum that we had, I felt like we could still win after being down”.

Lakers’ playoffs push
The Lakers have been through a difficult season till now. They are currently sitting at 12th in the Western Conference table with 29 wins and 32 losses.
Ham’s outfit has finally strung together a streak of three matches after the January trading window. With just 21 games to go in the regular season, the Lakers have to go for the jugular in every game to make it to the playoffs.
James is currently leading the team with an average of 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists each game. In a clutch situation like this, an injury to the all-time record points holder can make the rest of the season for the team increasingly difficult, if not outright impossible.
