The NBA world is constantly flooded with debates, arguments and comparisons. As every new batch of youngsters mature, their game is analyzed and compared to the greats that came before them. Analysts love these discussions, meticulously looking at each perspective of the players’ game to contrast them. The latest to partake in these kinds of discussions is NBA player Danny Green.
In a podcast, Green was comparing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic. He said that Shai had a deeper bag than Doncic. He stated that Shai had more weapons in his arsenal than Doncic does at this point. However, he also added that Doncic was somebody who reminded him of NBA superstar LeBron James. He said that Doncic, despite not having that much of a bag, was a player that could give you a triple-double any night.
He was quoted saying, “Both of these guys are MVP caliber players…[Luka] is closer to Bron than anybody… More of a triple-double guy… Shai is just that dude.”
Both the players are still quite young. They’re touted to be the faces of the league in a few years. Both have already displayed their brilliance multiple times. They have shown that they can be clutch when the game is on the line and that they can lead their team when it matters most.
Luka Doncic’s NBA journey so far
Doncic has been playing at an elite level for quite a number of years. Before joining the NBA he played for the European basketball club – Real Madrid – at just 16 years old.
He quickly rose to prominence and in 2018 was drafted 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks. He was immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks where he remains to this day. Doncic quickly made a mark in the league. He has played 5 seasons in the NBA and is a 4x All-Star and 4x All-NBA First Team.
He is the face of the Mavericks and franchise and quite possibly, in the upcoming years, the league as well. Last seen he was regularly getting triple-doubles and was creating historic performances almost every time he stepped on the court. While his defense is below average, his prowess on the offensive end makes up for it. Whether or not he has improved his game will be seen once the season starts.
