The drama between James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers doesn’t seem to come to an end even with the season nearing its start. Harden still hasn’t been traded, and the 76ers don’t seem to be interested in doing so. Additionally, Harden didn’t show up to team practice before their preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks. The chances of the 76ers being championship contenders next season are slim without him.

The ongoing drama between the two parties, which began with the start of free agency, has been a source of frustration for many, as it’s become evident that an agreement cannot be reached. NBA champion and analyst Kendrick Perkins voiced his exasperation with the situation between Philadelphia and Harden during his appearance on NBA Today.

Perkins expressed the view that the prolonged feud between the 76ers and Harden should come to an end. He suggested that the team should focus on building competitiveness and improving their roster to contend for a championship.

He said:

The fact of the matter is, the only breaking news that we need to be reporting with the Philadelphia 76ers unless they happen to do a trade is that they're sending James Harden home.

What consequences can James Harden face for not playing for the 76ers this season?

James Harden has been disgruntled with the Philadelphia 76ers ever since the beginning of free agency when he demanded a trade from the 76ers after opting into his $35.6 million player option. 76ers President Daryl Morey hasn’t made many strides in trading Harden to his preferred destination, the LA Clippers. Harden has now decided that he won’t play another game for the 76ers, and Morey can impose a lot of consequences on him.

According to reports, if Harden doesn’t play games for the 76ers due to not getting traded, the 76ers will fine the former MVP $389,000 for every game he misses and can even go as far as banning Harden from playing basketball for any professional organization at all. Harden’s future in the league could be decided soon if he chooses not to suit up for the 76ers.
