Tobias Harris is not happy with the trade rumors that have surrounded him this offseason. The Philadelphia 76ers forward, who has been with the team since 2019, fired back at the ‘casual’ fans who want to see him shipped out of town.

Harris, who is in the final year of his contract, has been mentioned in several trade scenarios involving teams like the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Utah Jazz. The Sixers are reportedly looking for a fresh start after another early playoff exit in the second round.

But Harris does not appreciate the speculation and the lack of respect from some of the 76ers’ fan base. Harris addressed the trade rumors with a sarcastic remark.

Trade speculation, casual 76ers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie,” Harris said to NBC Sports Philadelphia.“But at the end of the day, they have to realize, you’re not getting a 6-9 forward back who can d**n near shoot 40% from 3, guard other teams’ best player, shoot, post up, drive, play 70-plus games a year.

Harris’ numbers dropped slightly last season, as he averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 50.1% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc. However, he was often the fourth option on offense behind Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey.

The 76ers face tough decisions on Harden and Harris contracts

Harris also had to adjust to a new role under coach Doc Rivers, who wanted him to be more of a catch-and-shoot player and a defensive stopper. Harris said he was okay with that role and never complained about it. He also expressed his desire to stay with the 76ers and run it back with the same group next season. Harris believes they have the right talent and culture to be a championship team.

While Harris wants to remain with the 76ers, his future may not be entirely in his hands. The 76ers have some tough decisions to make this summer regarding their roster and their payroll.

The 76ers also have to consider how much money they can afford to spend on their core players. They already have Embiid signed to a supermax extension worth $213 million over four years. They also have Maxey on a rookie scale contract worth $12 million over four years. If they re-sign Harden to a max deal worth around $200 million over four years, they will have some serious cap issues.
