“He used to say ‘I’m scared of the big African'” 7x NBA Champion slips out that Michael Jordan FEARED Hakeem Olajuwon
Michael Jordan was known as a very fearless basketball player who loved to battle everybody that dared to stand in his way. During the 90s, this was peak MJ and everybody hated the fact that he simply got whatever he wanted, he won if he wanted to, he three-peated simply because he could. It was never easy for the rest of the players watch their teams get knocked down left and right.
There is a very bug reason as to why Michael Jordan is considered to be the greatest ever. The Chicago Bulls legend was determined to stay atop. He never liked losing, especially to people who considered no names. Six titles, five leagues MVPs and multiple All-Star selections later, the world decided that it was him who they wanted to crown the King of the NBA.
7x NBA Champion claims Michael Jordan only feared Hakeem Olajuwon

Michael Jordan was the star child of the league, but being drafted third overall in 1984 only meant that there was someone else who recruits and the league believed was better. This person was none other than Hakeem Olajuwon. Arguably the greatest center of all time, he was the better player in the league between 1993 and 1995.
The GOAT took a short break away from basketball and this was an opportunity for Hakeem to shine. He ended up winning two titles and two finals MVP awards during this time. He was extremely talented on both ends of the court and was very creative within the paint as well. The former Houston Rockets player managed to win two DPOY awards, led the twice in rebounds and thrice in blocks.
Robert Horry, 7x NBA Champion was a good acquaintance to both players. Horry even played with “The Dream” on the Rockets squad. He revealed a big secret that Michael Jordan kept with himself. During the 2016 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, he said, “If you ask Michael Jordan what one guy he ever feared, it was Hakeem Olajuwon. He used to say ‘I’m scared of the big African‘ because he’s from Nigeria.”
But all said and done, once Michael Jordan had his two guardian angels on his side (Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen) he managed to utilize their existence to bring back the trophies to Chicago. Some even believe Olajuwon was majorly overshadowed by Mike. Either way, both individuals are now Hall of Famers and some of the top ranked NBA players ever.
