The big movie “Air” has everyone talking, and it’s a big victory for Ben Affleck, who directed and wrote the story with some help from Matt Damon and Alex Convery. This movie takes us back to the time when Nike decided to team up with a young basketball star, Michael Jordan, hoping to make the best sneakers ever and turn him into the greatest basketball player in the world.
Even though the movie is all about the famous sneakers and Michael Jordan’s early career, you won’t actually see him in the movie. This surprising choice has got people talking, but in a good way. It gives the movie a deeper and different kind of feel.
“I just was never going to show Jordan” Affleck said. “Because he’s just too famous too meaningful… it’s about all the people around him… we show clips of the real Michael Jordan doing what is unmistakably him…”
Recently, Affleck visited the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show and explained why Jordan doesn’t appear in the movie. He said that Jordan is just too big and too famous to be played by someone else. Instead of trying to fake it, they decided to focus on the stories of the people around him and show real clips of Jordan doing his magic on the basketball court.

Even though you won’t see Michael Jordan acting in the movie, he was still involved behind the scenes. When it came to choosing who would play his mom, Deloris Jordan, in the movie, Jordan himself suggested the talented actress Viola Davis.
Having Davis in the movie adds some serious star power to the cast. It also shows that Jordan is still very much a part of his own story, helping to make sure it feels real and right, even if he’s not on the screen.
The movie “Air” has managed to show a different side of a story we all know, letting people see the huge impact of the Air Jordan sneakers while also giving a special tribute to the legendary Michael Jordan.
