Adam Silver has had a lot to deal with over the years, from owner to coached and athletes. It has never been easy to uphold morals and manage some many people who may or may not have the same ideologies. Midway through last decade, the NBA Commissioner faced one his harshest times.

In 2014, Donald Sterling owner of the LA Clippers was caught for passing racially degrading comments while speaking to an alleged mistress. The owner was seemingly very upset of the fact that the woman was constantly getting involved with black individuals and being in contact with rival LA team’s Magic Johnson.

“Deeply disturbing and harmful,” were the exact words the Commissioner had used after listening the Sterling’s audio tape. He urged the entire league and its associates to support removing the billionaire from his ownership posting, “I fully expect to get the support I need from the other NBA owners to remove him.”
An outraged Adam Silver further continued saying, “We stand together in condemning Mr. Sterling’s views. They simply have no place in the NBA. This league is far bigger than any one owner, any one coach and any one player. This has all happened in three days, and so I am hopeful there will be no long-term damage to the league and to the Clippers organization.”
“But as I said earlier, I’m outraged so I certainly understand other people’s outrage. This will take some time and appropriate healing will be necessary,” he concluded. The league ended up charging Sterling a $2.5 million fine and banned him for life from all activities pertaining to the Clippers organisation.
Since then, the team changed ownership and Steve Balmer took over. The Clippers have been fairly successful regardless but are yet to see a title in their hands. But as far as issues as such goes, several problems have been brought up with the most recent ones involving player Meyers Leonard and Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver.
