Allen Iverson played 16 seasons in the NBA, but his influence and impact on the game are still felt to this day. He was the No.1 overall pick in a draft that included stars like Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant, and Steve Nash. Iverson had an immediate impact on the court and brought success to the Philadelphia 76ers. He became the MVP of the league in 2001, leading his team to the NBA Finals against Kobe’s Lakers.
One of the most iconic moments of AI’s career came in his rookie season when he crossed up Michael Jordan after Bulls Head Coach switched MJ on AI. Iverson went off for 37 points against the Chicago Bulls, and while his team still lost the game, he made it clear that he meant business.
Talking about the crossover with Jalen Rose at a dinner party, AI said that he once went to a Charlotte Bobcats game where he kept telling MJ how much he loved him. However, MJ responded by saying that if he loved him, he wouldn’t have crossed him over.“I kept telling him how much I love him… He was like, ‘Man, you don’t love me like that. Because if you did, you wouldn’t have crossed me.’ I felt bad but at the same time was like, ‘Mike, you was just a casualty at war.'”

Allen Iverson weighs in on the GOAT debate between Michael Jordan and Lebron James

Allen Iverson is among the few players who played both Michael Jordan and LeBron James in the prime of their careers. When he was asked about his opinion of the topic in an interview with Marc J. Spears of Andscape, “The Answer” answered that LeBron is the best overall basketball player ever, but to him, MJ is everything because he made him want to play basketball.
“LeBron, I think, to me is the best overall basketball player that we’ll ever see. If you look in the dictionary and look up basketball player, there’ll be a picture of LeBron. But for me it’s so different because Mike was everything to me. He gave me the vision. He made me want to play basketball. He’s my everything.“Iverson said.
AI further went on to add that he wanted to become like MJ growing up, and he is starstruck every time he meets Jordan. So, for him, MJ is the GOAT, and no one will ever be at the top of his list besides MJ.”I wanted to actually be like him, like the commercial, ‘Be like Mike,’ I really wanted to be him. I’m still starstruck every time I see him. I’m still nervous every time. Because he’s Mike to me. He’s my guy. So there’ll never be no one at the top of my list besides Mike,” he said.
