Bronny James and Kiyan Anthony
In a highly anticipated battle on Monday night in Chatsworth, California, the kids of Lakers’ star LeBron James (Bronny James) and Carmelo Anthony (Kiyan Anthony) faced off just over 20 years after their memorable high school duel. LeBron, Carmelo, Scottie Pippen, Kim Kardashian and many other celebrities were there in the crowded arena, but as the game began, all eyes were on the young players, whom both impressed.
The gym at Sierra Canyon High School, Los Angeles was crowded on Monday night to watch the contest between Bronny and Bryce James and Kiyan Anthony. The game was close the entire time, however, it was Sierra Canyon that triumphed in the end winning 62–51 over Anthony’s Christ the King High School (N.Y.)
Reacting to the game, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe on their show Undisputed said, “That skill ain’t normal, that’s not normal high school basketball but It was great I enjoyed.” He further added how both the kids had big shoes to fill in and how he feels they cannot ever enjoy high school basketball because of the name they have to live up to, he said, “They’re not getting an opportunity to enjoy high school or enjoy a kid’s life because of their father, it’s not the father’s fault, it’s not the kid’s fault but it’s just tough and I thought both the kids played well.”
Ahead of the game, LeBron James shared a post on Instagram which said, “The Legacies Continue To Live On tonight! Wow, this is surreal and quite frankly insane!! 21 years later from when I played vs my brother @carmeloanthony (St-V/Oak Hill) and now this evening our boys are playing against one another! Life is Good/Beautiful.” Twenty years ago, Lakers forward’s St. Vincent-St. Mary high-school team defeated No. 1-ranked Oak Hill Academy by a score of 65-45. James scored 31 points in the shocking triumph.
