NBA analyst gets real on Nets being thumped with a reality check of no team wanting to acquire Kevin Durant even after 50 days
Nick Friedell from ESPN believes that Kevin Durant won’t be getting traded anytime soon, and the reasoning for his claims is that the Brooklyn Nets are asking too much. With no deal coming anywhere close to fruition. It seems Durant will have to wait longer before leaving the Barclays Center.
The Analyst stated: “This is the NBA’s version of Instagram and Reality. Because the Nets thought everyone was gonna come and say, “Oh, We’ll give you everything for KD. And the reality is that it has not been the case.” He further goes on to say, “I still have not seen a deal materialize where a team can give up what they want to get Kevin and still be title-contention level because they’re going to have to gut everything to make it happen for what the Nets want.” In summary, Friedell does not expect anything to happen anytime soon.
What Brooklyn Nets want in exchange for KD
While it is not confirmed, what exactly the Nets want in exchange for KD, Credible NBA Reporter Adrian Woj states that the nets want multiple first-round draft picks, all-stars and even more role players. There has never been a player like Kevin Durant and thus, the Nets want one of the largest packages in trade history for KD.
While KD’s talent will be an asset for any team, teams are aware of him not being able to commit and with the ankle injury back in 2019 which sidelined him for a long period. Trade negotiations have become difficult for the Nets.
If KD were to stay with the Nets
In a different scenario, if the Slim Reaper were to stay in Nets, there is still a high possibility that the nets can be a championship calibre team. They have a line-up with some of the best talents the league has to offer and with a returning Ben Simmons, the squad only keeps getting stronger.
Brooklyn Nets owner, Joe Tsai does not seem to be complying with KD’s alternate request of firing Head Coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks. And with the Nets not receiving any deal that fulfils their demand, we just might see KD still in a Nets jersey when October comes.
