Andre Drummond was one of the most feared big men in the league, especially during his time with the Detroit Pistons—the team he was drafted to with the 9th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. In Detroit, he was one of the best rebounders in the league, averaging around 15 rebounds per game during his peak.

He was one of the best, if not the best, rebounders in the league. Drummond is only among the three active players in the NBA, along with LeBron James and DeAndre Jordan, to be among the top 50 on the all-time rebounds list. During his peak, he led the league in rebounding for four seasons (2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020).

Moreover, he made two All-Star appearances and one All-NBA Third Team appearance. He is currently playing the role of a backup center to Nikola Vucevic, as he is not a center who can space the floor like a modern center, given the surge of big men who can shoot the ball.

During a recent appearance on the “Comfortable” podcast, Drummond said that he was a star, used to play 40-plus minutes, and also made All-Star and All-NBA appearances. He believes he has a case to be inducted into the Hall of Fame after his retirement.

He said, “I used to play 40-plus minutes, I was a star, All-Star, All-NBA, I’ve done it all. I’m a Hall of Fame candidate and the best rebounder ever. I’m the best ever,” Drummond said on ‘The Comfortable’ podcast’. “I’ve done great in my career and have the chance to be a Hall of Fame player.”

While Andre Drummond has achieved a lot in his career—a big contract, All-Star appearances, and an All-NBA appearance—his accolades may not be near enough to make it to the Hall of Fame. Many NBA fans hold the same opinion and have made it clear by calling Drummond “delusional” for thinking he will be a Hall of Famer. Here are some of the reactions:

Drummond is only 30 years old, and he has a long career ahead of him as a backup big man. He can develop his game, which is challenging for a player in his 30s. But if he does develop a touch around the rim, he could earn a starting spot on a team again and experience a resurgence in his career, which could help him become a Hall of Famer in the future.
