Jordan Poole was projected to take the torch from Stephen Curry after he departed from the sport of basketball. However, the incident between him and Draymond Green, where Draymond punched Poole, destroyed his chemistry with the team. This led him to have a season where he didn’t take the leap the Warriors hoped he would, and they ended up trading him to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul.

Andre Iguodala, who had been with the Warriors for 8 seasons and won a Finals MVP with the team, was like a mentor to Poole during his years at Golden State. On a recent appearance on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast “Gil’s Arena,” he talked about Poole’s superstar potential and how he is going to average 30 points every time he plays in Washington.“He’s going to average 30 at home. And it’s Chocolate City, so you know who’s going to be in the stands… Every time he sees a bad chick, he’s going for 40,” Iguodala said.

Jordan Poole played poorly throughout the entirety of last season, especially in the playoffs where he had massive turnovers that caused the team to lose very important games. This contributed to the Warriors’ loss in the second round of the playoffs. Now, with a new environment around him, he has a chance to redeem himself, elevate his game to the next level, and become the player he was projected to be.

Jordan Poole’s move to the Washington Wizards definitely caught a lot of people off guard, as the guard was among very few players the Warriors had who could carry them into a new era. However, that now seems to be obsolete as the Warriors have only three players below 25 who were drafted by them.

With Poole in a new environment where he could be the first or second option, in comparison to being the guy off the bench, it will help him develop into the scorer many hoped he would become after his sophomore year. During that year, he showed incredible growth after a poor rookie season.

Poole also appears to be locked in. In a recent interview with BallySports, he mentioned, “I’m already locked in with the District. I want to really get to know my teammates and be an asset.” He can’t wait to meet his new teammates and contribute to the team’s success.
