Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala was last time in the news when he stated that the NBA league should continue to have its 82-games schedule. He discussed it with co-host Evan Turner on the “Point Forward” podcast. Every team has to play around 82 games since the league’s inception in 1967. He stated the importance of why continuing the age-old format is a must. The GSW player has played around 18 seasons in the NBA, winning four championships and one Finals MVP.

Andre Iguodala said, “We gonna keep playing 82 games until 3005. We can’t change 82 games. 82 games … there’s a mental side of it. That’s why we talk about rookie wall,” He added, “Records are made to be broken, and as we get better over time we’ll break more records. But I do think that there’s a foundation in all sports, you have to carry on that tradition… 82 games, I do think you know it separates the men from the boys.”

Andre further added, “The bottom of our league is the bar for the bare minimum the NBA player has lowered. I think that needs to change and the part of this is the mental side of it. We’re getting younger and younger, but we had grown ass men playing in the league. I mean, John Stockton miss what 15 games over 20 years,”

Many have been talking about Iguodala’s retirement, but he doesn’t seem to have made up his mind about that yet, and he will be playing his 19th NBA season and his eighth with the Warriors this year.

The Warriors have dominated the NBA Finals since 2015, winning four titles in six finals. The Golden State Warriors won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 but failed to make it a hat-trick of titles. They were favorites to win the 2019 season, but injuries marred the team, so they failed to live up to that ‘favorites’ tag.

After missing the 2020 and 2021 playoffs, they made a strong comeback in the 2021-2022 season by winning the title for the seventh time. It will be enthralling to see how things go for the Warriors in the coming season, as the main focus will be on Curry who will be dependent on Andre Iguodala and rest of his teammates to lead the Warriors to another title win.
