Andrew Wiggins, the Golden State Warriors forward, is set to return to his after a long hiatus of 51 days. Though the player is not playing tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he is set to return in games in the coming few days. After a 21-game break, Wiggins finally answered some questions from the media, where he made a few things clear.
Andrew Wiggins didn’t hesitate in telling the world that his family was his “first priority” and nothing else. He asserted that he would not hesitate to take time out for his family if the situation demanded it. In the past, Wiggins had pulled out for “personal reasons” that he would earlier not disclose. What was said was Wiggins had to take time off due to a personal matter involving an ill family member.
Wiggins highlighted how his family was more important to him than anyone/anything else while answering questions. He said, “When you’re in a certain situation and your family needs you and requires your attention and your love, that’s my first priority.” Andrew went on to add that he would prioritize his family over his “career, and everything (else).” He solidified his statement by saying, “Family always comes first.”
While talking about his plans to come back, Wiggins stated that he felt it was the right time to come back, considering all the other factors involved. He said, ”We got everything settled, not fully settled, but in a safe place where I can come back.” Andrew said this as he hinted towards a return sooner than later.

Andrew Wiggins back with the team as fans now await his return to the lineup
Despite being on a long hiatus, Wiggins stated his conditioning was “not terrible” when asked about it. He said, “I’ve been working out… but the NBA… it’s a different type of conditioning you need.” Though, he went on to add, “But…I don’t think it’ll be too long before I’m back playing.”
Before taking a break from the league for personal reasons, Wiggins was averaging 19.3 points per game on 50% shooting, which included a 29-point performance in the last game he played. He, therefore, added his desire to “be right back where I left off.” Despite expecting a quick return, it doesn’t seem like Wiggins will immediately be seen on the court. Warriors’ Head Coach Steve Kerr said, “We’ll have a better idea in the next couple of days.” He also added, “There’s no way he’s playing in the next few days, I can tell you that.”
Fans can expect to see Wiggins in a game against the Portland Trailblazers. This will happen after he is cleared to return to play. Wiggins will be reassessed by the Warriors’ VP of player health and Performance, Rick Celebrini. Despite knowing the condition Wiggins was in, fans had a mixed reaction to statements made by him upon his return. Let us take a look at some of the Twitter reactions NBA Fans had.
