“Is Andrew Wiggins going to pull a 2015 Iggy?” Skip Bayless sparks controversy after Stephen Curry’s dreadful Game 5

Andrew Wiggins and Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors are one win away from winning their fourth NBA title in the last eight years. The Warriors put on a clinical display, with the entire squad putting in a strong effort despite Stephen Curry‘s struggles. Nonetheless, Andrew Wiggins had the biggest game of his career, and the night belonged to him. In the Finals, Wiggins produced his second consecutive double-double game, shooting 45.8% from the field. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole both contributed significantly, with the Poole hitting another buzzer-beater from half-court in the Finals.

At the Chase Center, it was a Wiggins show, and he did a fantastic job on both ends of the floor. On the majority of instances, the former ROTY has been able to contain ECF MVP Jayson Tatum. Wiggins silences the doubters who questioned his selection as a starter for the 2022 ASG by doing so. Following Wiggins’ outstanding performance, Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless sent a cryptic message implying that Stephen Curry will once again be denied the NBA Finals MVP award.

Skip Bayless picks Andrew Wiggins to win the FMVP over Stephen Curry.

Following the Warriors’ victory, Skip Bayless turned to Twitter to put Andrew Wiggins in the running for Finals MVP. Wiggins has undoubtedly been a key component for the Warriors in the Finals. He’s averaging 18.4 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 45.8% from the floor. His defense has been outstanding, and he has been instrumental in containing Jayson Tatum in this series. Bayless put out the following tweet stating:

The Finals MVP trophy is the only available trophy lacking from Stephen Curry’s trophy collection. In 2015, he came close to winning it, but Andre Iguodala was chosen ahead of him. Curry had just won the league MVP award, and there were high hopes for him to do so again in the Finals. Against LeBron James and the Cavs, the Warriors guard averaged 26.0 points, 6.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Due to his defensive excellence on Lebron James, Iguodala ended up winning the Finals MVP, much to the surprise of many.
