Angel Reese goes off at Joe Biden’s wife Jill, calls her decision ‘A JOKE’

Angel Reese has been a hot topic of conversation after the LSU Tigers‘ win against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The young forward was seen taunting her opponent Caitlin Clark, by making hand gestures at the end of the game. In a rageful reaction by Twitter users that followed this incident, Reese was commonly called a ‘classless’ player for her attitude. Reese was very much aware of the kind of reaction her gestures would induce. She spoke about it and put up an unapologetic stance during the post-game interview.

The Tigers forward also highlighted how throughout the tournament, she was constantly critiqued. Critiqued for who she was. She pointed out how the fans and media told her she was ‘too hood’ and ‘too ghetto.’ She doesn’t belong in the box they want her to be in. Following her comments on the incident, many have stood up to defend Reese, while many still stand against her. While everyone was still talking about the game, Reese posted on Twitter, pointing out the First Lady, Jill Biden, and calling her decision ‘A Joke.’

It is customary for the NCAA champions to be invited to the White House after winning the championship. However, what comes as a strange decision, is Jill Biden’s desire to host the runners-ups from Iowa as well. Out of the many people who questioned and called this decision strange, Angel Reese was undoubtedly one of them. The forward took to Twitter and criticized the First Lady.

Are Runners-Ups usually invited to the White House?

The last basketball team that visited the White was the Golden State Warriors. This was after their NBA Finals win against the Boston Celtics, which gave them their fourth title in eight years. Historically, the White House is known to play host to the champions of the NBA and NCAA winners. Therefore, the invitation of a team coming second is a bit of an alien concept.

Jill Biden’s reason for wanting to invite the Iowa Hawkeyes was their deserving recognition for their fighting and sporting spirit. Although some could argue that Iowa was supposedly better at not taunting anyone on the floor, the scorecard doesn’t really reflect a fighting spirit. LSU won the game with a margin of 17 points as the score stood 102-85 at the end of regulation.

Following this announcement and Reese’s reaction, many have come out to suspect a racist undertone. The suspicion comes not only against the First Lady but against all those who criticize Reese for her gestures against Caitlin Clark. Many have also suspected that inclination towards a white player (insinuating Clark) and favoritism is the reason why Iowa is now expected to be invited.
