Fans certainly enjoy the rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. However, their animosity is only evident when they are on the court. 

In a recent interview before the LSU Tigers’ game against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday, Reese admitted that they never hated each other. Though Monday’s game will be Round 2 for these players, more significantly, it is an Elite Eight clash with a trip to the Final Four on stake.

The rivalry reached a climax after Angel Reese’s “You can’t see me” gesture, but Clark had no intention of condemning her competitor. Even the Tiger’s star confirmed that there is no hatred for them and it is simply about rivalry. Moreover, according to her claims, it is all a result of fabricated rivalry among people.

Speaking in an interview, Angel Reese said

Basketball rivalries have been abundant throughout history because of the variety of talented players. For the first time, Angel Reese discussed her relationship with Caitlin Clark in an interview conducted in February.

However, citing her competition with Caitlin Clark as a legendary Magic Johnson and Larry Bird rivalry was the primary focus of her statement. Additionally, it was the first time she had said that everything between her and Clark was cool.

I love that we're able to compete and still be cool after, regardless of the outside noise. People even say Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, that era and how it was. If that's who we are, then okay, cool. I think we are both happy about what's going on.
Speaking in an interview with Women’s Health Magazine, Angel Reese said

For the uninitiated, the rivalry between Johnson and Bird began during the 1979 NCAA Championship and persisted until their NBA Hall of Fame careers. It is regarded as the greatest rivalry the NBA has ever seen. Now, Reese and Clark are compared in the same way.

The WNBA competition between these two talents will be fascinating to watch when they both get picked in the upcoming month.
