The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors easily in Game 6 of their second-round playoff series to advance to the Western Conference Finals. The Lakers, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, fully dominated the game’s tempo and never allowed the Warriors to get back into it.
Throughout the whole 2023 NBA Playoffs, Anthony Davis has been invincible, and in 40 minutes of play, he concluded the game with 17 points, 20 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. After the game, he spoke to the ESPN broadcast, and a quote of his quickly became famous on Twitter.
“Not a lot of guys been in close out games or in this position at all in the second round on our team. They’re hungry,” Davis said. “They want it, just like me and Bron want another one. Now it’s time to go get it, unfinished business.”
The Western Conference Finals will now feature the Lakers against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, with Game 1 scheduled for Tuesday night in Denver, Colorado.
Warriors Face Uncertain Future After Playoff Elimination
Following an awful defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 of their second-round series, the Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs. Despite a game-high of 32 points from Stephen Curry, the Lakers’ outstanding showing could not be stopped.
Klay Thompson struggled once more and finished with just eight points on 3-of-19 shooting, falling short of his goal of making up for a bad shooting performance in Game 5. Jordan Poole, who has battled throughout the playoffs, had a difficult game as well and was fouled for the majority of the game.
The future of this edition of the Warriors franchise is now under serious scrutiny in the wake of this defeat. It’s uncertain where the Warriors will go from here with Thompson and Poole struggling and Draymond Green reaching the end of his playing days.
Adding to the doubt around the Warriors’ future is LeBron’s Lakers becoming the first Western Conference team to knock out the Warriors from the playoffs during the Steve Kerr era. On the other hand, the Lakers have their sights set on capturing another championship and are currently just four victories away from the 2023 NBA Finals.
