One victory at a time, the LeBron James and Anthony Davis led Los Angeles Lakers are attempting to rescue their season. The Lakers have slowly climbed the standings after a 2-10 start to the season. They are only one game behind the 10th seed to make the play-in even as they are still the 12th seed in the Western Conference. Given how the Lakers began the season, most people would view their participation in the play-in as a success.

However, Anthony Davis has made it obvious that the squad is not looking forward to the play-in round. He claimed they are gunning for the 6th seed at the very least. Davis in an interview said, “We don’t wanna be in the play-in tournament. We want to secure a spot (in the playoffs).” The sixth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves are now 2.5 games ahead of the Lakers. Given the closely contested Western Conference, they may even secure that spot should they win games consistently.

The Lakers need one more victory to reach .500 for the first time this season. They have won two straight games going into a week. That is sure to go down in history as LeBron James attempts to break Kareem Abdul-scoring Jabbar’s record. After the Lakers’ next game against the Pelicans, James is anticipated to break the record against the Thunder.

Davis was passed over as a Western Conference All-Star reserve on Thursday after losing out on being chosen as an All-Star starter last week. He was passed over in favor of Memphis center Jaren Jackson Jr., while other frontcourt picks included Utah’s Lauri Markkanen, Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, and the Clippers’ Paul George.

At the beginning of the season, Davis was exceptional, performing at an MVP level, let alone an All-Star level. Davis averaged 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks through the first 25 games of the season while shooting 59.4% from the field. He might fill in for an injured player even though none of the players currently chosen are hurt.

But Davis is one of the most prominent players that was left off the rosters and would undoubtedly be a replacement if an injury occurred. In any other case, He will use the time off to completely recover and prepare for a playoff push in the second half.
