Because of injuries, Anthony Davis has been limited for the Los Angeles Lakers in the past three seasons. But he hasn’t been disappointing and has already successfully led the team to a title. Also, when Davis is healthy, he can dominate his rivals on the floor, especially in the paint, without a doubt. His duo with LeBron James was a game-changer for the franchise when they first acquired him. He has two years left on his contract and will soon be eligible for a 3-year extension.
According to some recent reports, the Lakers are reluctant to offer Davis a contract extension. He’ll be eligible to sign one from August 4. And ESPN’s Dave McMenamin is very optimistic about that signing. He believes they’ll agree on an extension before the training camp starts.
McMenamin talking about the situation, quoted, “Anthony Davis, in Rob [Pelinka’s] estimation, is someone that has represented the Lakers really well, citing how he played through his foot injury last year as a major reason why they won a championship in 2020, and he wants to continue to have Anthony Davis as a Laker.”
Further talking about a potential extension, he added, “I am not too concerned about how this thing plays out, whether it’s the max amount of years or max amount of dollars are reached, that remains to be seen, and that will be figured out between Rich Paul and Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss.”
McMenamin went on to point out how the franchise can have Davis as a trade chip in the later years to rebuild once James is retired or gone, as they won’t like to waste his talent until James is around and balling.

Will Anthony Davis be paired up with LeBron James until he retires?

Anthony Davis and LeBron James can be a duo until James retires. But that would only be possible if the King continued to don the purple and yellow jersey. He’ll now enter his 21st year in the league and will be 39. He is undoubtedly chasing championships but, at the same time, is also waiting for his son, Bronny James, to get into the league so they can hoop together.
Reports claim Bronny to be a lottery pick in his class, and if the Lakers fail to draft or acquire him to the system, James may force his way out to hoop with his son. Bronny can declare for next year’s draft, and even James has a player option for the 2024-25 season, which he can decline to play with his son.
